Can You Get Inexpensive Health Insurance in Texas With Taxes?

If you’re looking for ways to save money on health coverage in Texas – and you obviously are – then you’ve come to the right place! EZQuoteGuide.com not only provides you with free online health insurance quotes, but we also offer tips to help you find the perfect insurance health coverage that’s most affordable. Medical insurance in Texas, and every other state for that matter, doesn’t usually come cheap. Therefore, it’s important to explore every available option.

One option Texas residents have is the Health Coverage Tax Credit. The United States Internal Revenue Service (IRS) administers the Texas Health Coverage Tax Credit Program and it is a way for Texans to help pay for their own health insurance in the event they can’t otherwise obtain – or pay for – medical coverage. The Texas Department of Revenue thoroughly covers the details of the Texas Health Coverage Tax Credit, but we’ve provided a brief summary to get you started.

There are four types of individuals who are eligible for the Texas Health Coverage Tax Credit Program:

  • Unemployed individuals or those at risk for becoming unemployed for certain reasons and receiving the Trade Readjustment Allowance (TRA) or eligible to receive the TRA.

  • Unemployed individuals or those at risk for becoming unemployed for certain reasons and receiving the Alternative Trade Adjustment Assistance (ATAA) benefits or eligible to receive the ATAA benefits.

  • Individuals 55 years of age and older and receiving Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) benefits.

  • Individuals 65 years of age and older, receiving PBGC benefits and eligible to receive Medicare Part A benefits.

A wide variety of health coverage qualifies for the Texas Health Coverage Tax Credit Program, including employer-sponsored group health insurance that offers coverage to employees’ spouses and health coverage from an individual, or private, health insurer.
