Discount Health Insurance

Before you let EZQuoteGuide.com help you begin your search for discount health insurance, there are a few tips you should know for increasing your chances of getting cheap medical coverage.

Look for group packages. Sometimes the best way to get cheap medical coverage is with employer-sponsored group health insurance packages; however, not everyone is employed, nor is every employed person offered health benefits. If you fall into one of those two categories try to find discount health insurance through group packages. You may be able to do this through clubs, associations, or organizations to which you belong, and you may be able to find these group rate health coverage packages through insurance companies.

Consider an HMO. Health Maintenance Organizations, or HMOs, are able to offer pretty cheap medical coverage because they have contracts with certain health care professionals. The contracts enable doctors to provide certain medical services and HMOs to offer them to you at low co-pay. The catch is that you must see a health care professional within the HMO’s network, but many people find it a small price to pay for discount health insurance.

Think about major medical plans. While major medical plans aren’t exactly discount health insurance, they do offer cheap medical coverage. How? They only cover major medical needs, so you aren’t paying for all health services such as regular doctor appointments.

Remember your medicine. If you’re currently taking medicine for an on-going medical condition, you want to choose a health insurance plan that will cover your prescriptions. Out-of-pocket expenses could make cheap medical coverage not so cheap after all.

Contact your state’s department of insurance. Most states offer some kind of discount health insurance for individuals and families who can’t otherwise find affordable medical coverage. Sometimes there are certain income and/or family member requirements you must meet. Contact your state’s insurance department to ask about these plans and find out whether or not you qualify.
